Data Science Advisor

Trained as a multipurpose cosmologist, Oliver has spent the last 15 years solving problems in numerous fields with data science. Oliver’s doctoral work from 2003-2008 was in Theoretical and Computational Astrophysics at the Harvard University of Physics and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.He spent 8 years, including as the Executive Director, in UC Berkeley’s Cosmology department, working on a team with two Nobel laureates and employing novel data science techniques to first discover Gravitational Lensing. From 2016-2018, Oliver was the lead Data Scientist at Impossible Foods, where he architected and implemented the use of data science to make the Impossible Burger smell like a burger. Oliver is currently the Head of Data Science at Google.
